So Valentine’s day came along and I guess chocolate is a must, right? Either if you are alone or you have a significant other, this day is just a good excuse to indulge on super moist fluffy cupcakes.
So for this day I had in mind pleasing a certain special someone that has a thing for Nutella. I googled my way through various cupcake recipes and I found the perfect one in another food blog, Sally’s Baking Addiction.
So after some reading and checking out other recipes I decided to try out her recipe for super Moist Cupcakes. And I will absolutely do this again and again. They were the most moist cupcakes I have ever had, they use very common ingredients and they are just easy to prepare. One thing that she brilliantly points out in her a blog post, and that I guess I should mention, is that for them to be just right you need to watch them so they don’t overbake. Put them in the oven for 15 min and go check with a toothpick if they are cooked. If they are not, as mine weren’t, keep them in the oven and check on them every other 10 minutes. When your toothpick comes out clean and moist, voila!, they’re done.
I added in the cupcake batch some bitter chocolate crumbsthat melted into the cake and gave it a super chocolate kick. This is totally optional, I just wanted to give it my own twist and the cupcake will be awesome regardless.
So follow the link for the recipe and instructions to bake the cupcake base.
As I like to play with these combinations, I didn’t use the same frosting that is mentioned. And here comes the Nutella.
Oh man! How much frosting recipes with Nutella can exist?? It took me long enough to find a recipe from frosting that had ingredients that I could easily find. Well I found one, and as I’m a newbie when it comes to frostings I had no idea if this would come out with the right consistence. Well, it was the first time I was playing around with the decorating bag, so there you go.
I took the frosting recipe from Food.com, so follow the link for the instructions. These basically are, mix all the ingredient together and it’s done. I just didn’t use the vanilla extract because I don’t like vanilla at all. If you like sweet frostings and if you really like Nutella, this one definitely taste like it, a LOT! I loved it, the texture was very cloud-like and I can’t wait to use it again on my Water Cake.
Then I tried to shove all this frosting inside the decorating bag, and I made a gigantic mess, because it was my first time, and I’m quite sure my decorating bag is the cheapest thing out there and it doesn’t open enough so I can put the filling inside without smudging it all over the table and my hands. Anyway, even if my kitchen was a mess, I managed to do it.
So the final result was a super sweet super moist and my first pretty cupcakes. They were very sweet all together, so if you don’t like sweet things that much you can go lighter on the powder sugar for the frosting. My Valentine has a sweet tooth so this was super delicious for both of us as a dinner desert:)
I hope you had a sweet Valentine’s day and enjoy!
